4 Tips to Get Out the Door Before the Sun Comes Up

If you’ve convinced yourself that you’re physically unable to wake up early, we have a few tricks up our sleeve that will help give you a boost in the right direction to get up and at ‘em before the sun comes up.

1. Go to bed early. No, earlier.

There’s a difference between going to bed early and falling asleep early. Give yourself enough time to get home, unwind, and kick start your nightly ritual. Just because you left a night out with your friends at 9pm doesn’t mean you’ll be asleep by 10pm. Leave enough room for nightly meditation, a cup of tea, or a book to wind down.

2. Find an accountabilibuddy.

In our last blog post, we talked about how beneficial it is to get out the door and run with a friend. This time is no different. Struggling to wake up before the sun comes up? Enlist an early-bird friend to call and make sure sure you get out of bed.

  • 3. Sleep in your running clothes.
  • One less step to get out the door! On the flip side, miss your alarm and sleep in late? Nothing feels worse than changing from clean, sweat-free running clothes into your work clothes for the day. Maybe you’ll be extra motivated the next morning to get up and out the door early.

    4. Be consistent.

Waking up super early one morning every now and again kind of feels like going to the airport to catch a morning flight. The night before, you focus so much on waking up on time that you’re able to spring out of bed when the alarm goes off. That’s great, but what about 2 nights in a row? Maybe 3? If you go to bed and wake up at the same time every day (yes, even weekends), you’ll get in a rhythm. Habits are a powerful tool!

Give these steps a try and let us know how it works out for you.
